Privileges of a Multi-Engine Rating

Upon successful completion of MULTI-ENGINE RATING Program, you will be able to fly airplanes with more than one engine. This will allow you to operate larger aircraft, with better performance, retractable landing gear, constant-speed propellers, etc.


If you are flying Recreationally or for yourself, this will expand your flying options greatly.


If you are pursuing a Career as a Professional Pilot, the Multi-Engine Rating is an important qualification to have.

Prerequisites of a Multi-Engine Rating

In order to enroll in a MULTI-ENGINE RATING Program, you must hold a Private Pilot Licence.

Requirements of a Multi-Engine Rating

In order to qualify for a MULTI-ENGINE RATING, you must be able to demonstrate to your Instructor that you have developed the skills required to pass the Transport Canada Multi-Engine Rating flight examination.


There is no minimum flight time requirement, nor any written examinations.

Multi-Engine Rating - Ground School

There is no formal Ground School requirement for a Multi-Engine Rating. Your pre-flight and post-flight briefings will cover the required material.

Multi-Engine Rating Program - Duration & Cost

Each Student Pilot is able to determine their own pace, so that your Pilot Training fits your schedule and your financial plan.


There is no minimum flight time requirement. Most multi-engine students require around 7 to 10 hours of dual instruction, in order to obtain and consistently demonstrate the skills required.


You can obtain your Multi-Engine Rating in a little as one week.


The Total Cost of your Multi-Engine Rating is estimated to be between $3,600 and $4,900 CAD.
